Uber exits Nigeria after 12 years of operation
Global ride-hailing company Uber has announced it is winding down operations in Nigeria, effective September 2, 2026, ending a 12-year run since launching in Lagos in 2014.
According to Daily Post Nigeria, the company said in a statement, “We have made the tough decision to wind down our operations in Nigeria,” thanking users for “trusting the platform” over the years and apologising for the disruption.
Uber said its help centre would remain open until September 23, 2026, to assist customers with final account queries. No reason was given for the exit.
