New York Times faces criticism over 9/11 coverage accused of portraying Muslims as victims
The New York Times has faced criticism over its coverage of the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, with critics accusing the newspaper of portraying Muslims as the primary victims of the aftermath.
According to Fox News, the criticism followed a Times report examining Islamophobia and the experiences of Muslim Americans after the attacks. Critics argued that the coverage focused heavily on anti-Muslim prejudice while giving insufficient attention to the victims of the attacks. Tim Graham of NewsBusters accused the newspaper of presenting a largely pro-Muslim perspective.
The Times rejected the criticism, describing it as a “disingenuous” attempt to provoke outrage and misrepresent its journalism. The newspaper said its anniversary coverage reflected diverse perspectives on 9/11 and its lasting impact.
