Sokoto cleric says he’s well, in good health after knife attack
Sheikh Musa Ayuba Lukuwa, the Sokoto-based Islamic cleric stabbed shortly after Jumu’at prayer at his mosque in the Mabera area, has assured followers that he is well and in stable condition, according to Vanguard.
In a viral video, the cleric appeared with a plaster on his neck, saying the injury was not life-threatening and appealing for calm to prevent reprisals. Lukuwa commended his followers for their swift intervention, saying their actions prevented more serious harm after the attacker approached him with a knife immediately after prayers.
He urged his supporters to remain peaceful and allow authorities to handle the matter lawfully, thanking well-wishers for their prayers and solidarity amid the incident, which followed controversy over his recent religious pronouncements.
