Newcastle star Amar Dedic questioned by Police after bow and arrow incident
Newcastle United defender Amar Dedic was questioned by police after sparking a major operation involving at least six patrol cars in Northumberland.
According to Wales Online, the Bosnia international was spotted carrying a bow and arrows alongside a friend near a reservoir in the Harlow Hill area on Wednesday afternoon. A concerned member of the public alerted authorities, prompting marked and unmarked police vehicles, including armed response units, to respond.
The pair were eventually stopped in the Darras Hall area, approximately seven miles away, where officers searched their vehicle and seized the equipment. Former Newcastle defender and Wales international Paul Dummett and Magpies goalkeeper Mark Gillespie reportedly arrived at the scene by chance and offered assistance.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At this stage, it is understood they were for recreational use and there was no threat to the public. Enquiries are ongoing.” Dedic, who joined Newcastle from Benfica during the summer, is not expected to face disciplinary action and remains available for Saturday’s trip to Fulham.
