Nigeria launches search-and-rescue operation after mass kidnapping

President Bola Tinubu has ordered security agencies to coordinate an urgent rescue operation for people abducted by gunmen last week in Niger State, according to RT.

Tinubu directed the armed forces, police, the Department of State Services and other agencies to locate and free the captives, and ordered regular updates from security chiefs. The order followed a video showing hundreds of captives held in a forest, days after gunmen attacked worshippers at a mosque in Dekara village and raided nearby communities.

A Borgu district official told Reuters 30 people were killed, while Niger State Governor Umaru Bago condemned the attack.
