Nigerian-Australian Foluso Omole arrested while fleeing Australia, faces $5m fraud allegations
Nigerian-Australian Foluso Omole has been arrested while allegedly attempting to leave Australia for Nigeria and charged over an alleged $5 million disability insurance fraud.
According to Peoples Gazette, the 38-year-old was detained at Adelaide Airport after purchasing a one-way ticket to Nigeria.
Prosecutors allege Omole improperly received information from a National Disability Insurance Agency employee over six years and used it to fraudulently obtain benefits.
Omole denies the charges.
His lawyer sought bail, but Magistrate Patrick Hill rejected the application, ruling that Omole posed a flight risk. He is expected to return to court in September.
