No criminal case against Tinubu in US, Presidency insists

The presidency has denied reports suggesting President Bola Tinubu is facing a criminal trial in the United States over alleged drug trafficking, describing the matter as a civil records-disclosure dispute.

As reported by Peoples Gazette, Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga said the case, filed by activist Aaron Greenspan under the US Freedom of Information Act, does not amount to a criminal charge against Tinubu, who joined the suit as an intervenor.

He said the FBI and DEA produced 399 redacted pages, with the redactions now being contested in court.

However, the presidency accused Atiku Abubakar’s lobbyist, Karl von Batten, of misrepresenting his role in the case.
