‘Not a complete picture’ — Presidency responds to US fiscal report
The Presidency has responded to a US assessment that Nigeria failed to meet minimum fiscal transparency requirements, saying the findings are an external benchmark rather than a full picture of Nigeria’s fiscal governance, Nairametrics reports.
Presidential spokesman Sunday Dare said Nigeria remains committed to reforms, citing the Open Treasury initiative and budget disclosures.
The 2026 US Fiscal Transparency Report placed Nigeria among 67 governments that failed the review, citing weak budget disclosure, audit independence and procurement transparency.
