Ogogo to be buried Monday in Ogun

Veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, will be buried on Monday in his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State.Hassan died at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the age of 66, with veteran actor Jide Kosoko announcing his death and burial arrangements on Instagram.

The PUNCH reports that the actor’s remains will be taken to Ilaro on Sunday, ahead of a lying-in-state ceremony scheduled for Monday at the Pavillon, Ilaro.

The announcement read, “The remains will be taken to his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State today where the lying-in-state ceremony will take place tomorrow.”

The burial prayer is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground, according to an announcement by the Ilaro Muslim Community.

The PUNCH had earlier reported that Hassan’s death was confirmed by multiple sources, including Seun Oloketuyi, the founder of Best of Nollywood.

His death came days after his daughters, Kaira and Lima Taiwo, appealed for medical assistance for their father, who had been battling stage-four cancer.

The sisters had sought medical advice and assistance on social media on August 17, with Kaira revealing that doctors had told the family they could no longer administer chemotherapy due to his condition.

Hassan was a prominent figure in the Nigerian film industry, particularly known for his contributions to Yoruba-language films.
