Ogun: 38-year-old graduate killed ‘for hugging neighbour’s 3-year-old daughter’ in Mowe

A 38-year-old university graduate, Mike Oje, has reportedly been beaten to death by his neighbour in Mowe, Ogun State, following an argument over his alleged interaction with the neighbour’s three-year-old child.

According to The Sun, the neighbour allegedly became angry after accusing Oje of hugging and engaging in “rough play” with the child.

The suspect reportedly picked up a bamboo stick and repeatedly hit Oje until he collapsed and died. He was said to have fled the area with his family following the incident but was later arrested by the police.

Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the arrest and said the suspect had been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.

Oje, who held a degree in Guidance and Counselling, was reportedly known in the community before his death.

The police did not disclose further details about the circumstances surrounding the incident, as investigation continues.
