Xenophobic attacks: RCCG funds return of 100 Nigerians from South Africa

The Federal Government has evacuated 105 Nigerians from South Africa, including 100 whose return tickets were funded through a $265,854 donation by the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

According to Vanguard, the returnees, comprising 82 adults and 23 children, arrived in Lagos on Thursday aboard a South African Airways flight.

The RCCG donation is intended to fund one-way tickets for 500 distressed Nigerians seeking evacuation amid xenophobic and Afrophobic attacks. A private Nigerian funded the remaining five returnees.

The latest evacuation is the 13th since the exercise began on June 10, bringing the total number of returnees to 1,821.

The government said 1,388 evacuations have been fully funded by federal authorities and pledged continued diplomatic efforts to protect Nigerians abroad.
