Ogun prison: Mother arrested for ‘sneaking in colos’ for son on death row

A woman, Mrs Iyabo Sowunmi, was arrested on Friday for allegedly attempting to smuggle suspected “Colos,” a psychoactive synthetic drug, into the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Ibara, Abeokuta, concealed in a Milo sachet, Daily Trust reports.

NCoS Ogun spokesperson Odukoya Olayinka said she intended the package for her son, death row inmate Dare Sowunmi. She has been handed to the NDLEA for prosecution. The incident follows a recent scandal at the same facility where death row inmate Elijah Oyebode hosted TikTok livestreams using a smuggled phone, leading to the removal of three prison officers.
