Wanted ex-governor Timipre Sylva, tied to alleged coup plot, quits APC

Timipre Sylva, former governor of Bayelsa, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress, TheCable reports. In his resignation letter to the APC chairman in Ward 4, Brass LGA, Sylva said the decision followed wide consultations with family and associates.

He described the APC as a “floundering ship whose fate appears sealed,” accusing the administration of disappointing Nigerians. In November 2025, the EFCC declared Sylva wanted over an alleged $14.8 million fraud case. He is also a defendant in the 13-count charge over an alleged coup plot against President Tinubu.
