Ondo hospital employees protest three-month salary arrears, alleged forced transfer to FUTATH
Workers at the former University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH) in Akure, Ondo State, have protested three months of unpaid salaries and alleged forced integration into the Federal University of Technology Akure Teaching Hospital (FUTATH).
According to SaharaReporters, the workers marched to the Ondo State House of Assembly and Governor’s Office on Monday, demanding government intervention over salary arrears, employment uncertainty and alleged compulsory transfers.
“We do not want the management to force our members to join FUTATH against their wishes,” the protesters said.
“We are demanding urgent action regarding our three months of unpaid salaries,” they added.
The workers also complained that some employees’ names were missing from FUTATH’s published staff list, raising concerns about their employment status.
They urged the state government to ensure transparency in the integration process, settle outstanding salaries and clarify the status of affected employees.
“No salary, no work! Justice for all affected workers!” they declared.
