One killed, nine abducted as bandits raid Kaduna community
Suspected bandits have killed a resident and abducted nine people during an attack on Babban Saura community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Daily Post reported that the attackers invaded three houses early Thursday as Nigerians marked the country’s 66th Independence Day.
The assailants reportedly abducted two children from one residence before storming the home of a man identified as Sikiru. He was shot dead after attempting to resist them, while his wife and two children were abducted.
The gunmen also kidnapped Maman Mubarak and her four children from a neighbouring house.
Local vigilante commander Usman Adamu said soldiers and vigilantes pursued the attackers and rescued Mubarak.
“We received a distress call that bandits had entered Babban Saura PW, and so we informed soldiers who joined us.
“We traced them to the Eastern Bypass area and succeeded in rescuing a woman, Maman Mubarak, whose four children were among those kidnapped,” he said.
