Osun: EFCC lying to cover illegal action, account freeze political – Adeleke
The Osun State Government has flatly rejected the EFCC’s claim that its bank accounts were frozen over the alleged fraudulent diversion of N11 billion in ecological and intervention funds, describing the anti-graft agency’s position as a politically motivated fabrication.
Information Commissioner Kolapo Alimi, in a statement reported by TheCable, alleged the freeze was ordered by former Governor Gboyega Oyetola to block worker palliative payments ahead of the August 15 election. “We reject attempts to tarnish the image of our hardworking governor,” Alimi said, accusing the EFCC of “pursuing a hatchet job for Osun APC.”
The EFCC maintained its position, citing suspicious transfers from state accounts since August 2. The state insists palliatives have since been paid.
