EFCC: Probe into public fund mismanagement extends to 18 states
The EFCC says it has ongoing investigations into alleged mismanagement of public funds in about 18 states, according to P.M. News. Spokesperson Wilson Uwujaren told Arise Television the commission wouldn’t name the states to avoid jeopardizing the probes, which extend beyond Osun, whose account was recently frozen.
He denied targeting any particular government, citing a similar past action in Edo State that preserved funds. Uwujaren said the Osun investigation began in March, with several officials already questioned, and the EFCC has 72 hours to secure a court order sustaining the account restriction.
