Pentagon officials ready to reveal secrets in bid to impeach Hegseth

Current and former Pentagon officials are reportedly prepared to provide evidence against US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth as Democrats consider impeachment proceedings following November’s midterm elections.

According to The Telegraph, Democratic lawmakers have contacted potential whistleblowers and are preparing investigations should they regain control of the House of Representatives.

“There’s going to be a lot of people that are going to very quietly go to the chair of the armed [services] committee and are going to spill their guts, provide them with everything they can and leak everything they can,” a source said.

Potential investigations would examine Hegseth’s handling of classified military information, Pentagon leadership changes and defence contracts.

Democrats could subpoena Hegseth, his advisers and former senior officials to testify before congressional committees.

A Democratic lawmaker said impeachment would follow only after a thorough investigation.

Three lawmakers, including a Republican, have already introduced impeachment articles against Hegseth.

However, conviction would require a two-thirds majority in the Senate.
