Piers Morgan slams Jamie Carragher over apology to Villa following legal threat
Piers Morgan has publicly criticized Jamie Carragher following the former defender’s apology to Aston Villa, according to a report by Liverpool.com.
The fallout stems from comments Carragher made on the Stick to Football podcast regarding Unai Emery and Manchester United, where he told Villa supporters to “shut the f— up.”
Villa chairman Nassef Sawiris subsequently announced the club would initiate legal action over the “unacceptable insults.”
Carragher issued a public apology on X, writing: “I’d like to apologise to Aston Villa, the owners & their fans. My language this week was clumsy & wrong. I can assure Villa fans it was tongue in cheek but I can understand it’s not come across that way, so apologies. Good luck today UTV!”
Morgan quickly rejected the stance, responding on social media: “Why on earth are you apologising? Grow a pair.”
Morgan also poked fun at Carragher by referencing past arguments over Cristiano Ronaldo, adding: “I will initiate legal action against Jamie Carragher for his unacceptable insults. (Do I get a grovelling apology too @Carra23?).”
