Sowore says stolen phone from attack on his team was traced to Ekiti Governor’s Lodge
African Action Congress presidential aspirant Omoyele Sowore says a phone stolen during Friday’s attack on his team in Ado-Ekiti has been traced to the Ekiti Governor’s Lodge, and he is demanding the release of CCTV footage and the arrest of alleged masterminds, while police say they have arrested 11 suspects.
Omoyele Sowore, African Action Congress (AAC) presidential aspirant, has alleged that a phone stolen from a member of his team during Friday’s attack in Ado-Ekiti has been traced to the Governor’s Lodge in Ekiti State.
In a post on X on Sunday, Sowore said: “The @PoliceNG and @OfficialDSSNG must immediately release the CCTV footage from Tawakalitu Restaurant to the public. You cannot bury the evidence.”
Sowore and his team were assaulted after he attended an interview at MIDAS FM 90.5. Police initially described the incident as an altercation. They later announced the arrest of 11 suspects at about 10pm on Friday, October 30, in the Atikankan area, and listed recovered items including two walkie-talkies, 13 mobile phones, eight international passports and two suspected criminal charms.
Sowore said the announcement showed “a coordinated, violent attack that could have cost us our lives.” He asked: “Where are the masterminds?”
He demanded the arrest of Adenijo Olusola, known as Solar, whom he accused of coordinating the attack from the State Government House with Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s Chief Security Officer, CSP Ayodele Akinlua. Eyewitnesses also named Omotuyi Temitope, also known as Tope Jinadu Small. The allegations against both men have not been established by a court.
Sowore has also alleged that DSS operatives trailed his team before the attack.
