Democrats lead Republicans by eight points on the generic congressional ballot, 51% to 43%, according to a new Emerson College Polling national survey. The poll found 40% of voters approve of President Trump’s job performance, while 56% disapprove.
Testing 2028 hypothetical matchups, Marco Rubio outperformed JD Vance against several Democratic contenders, including Pete Buttigieg, Gavin Newsom, and Jon Ossoff. The survey also found 23% of voters identify as supporters of the Democratic Socialists of America. The economy remained the top voter concern at 37%, followed by threats to democracy and healthcare, both at 16%. The poll surveyed 1,000 likely voters on August 16-17.
