Pope issues Ebola plea…

Pope Leo XIV has appealed for international action to help contain the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to a report by RT.

Writing on X, the pontiff called for a coordinated response involving local communities to save lives. DR Congo’s Health Ministry has recorded 5,375 confirmed cases and 2,557 deaths, a 47.6% fatality rate, across 56 health zones in six provinces.

The World Health Organization has called it the country’s fastest-spreading Ebola outbreak on record. Declared in May, the outbreak marks DR Congo’s 17th and has no licensed vaccine specific to its viral strain.
