Real Madrid edge Inter 2-1 in dramatic Champions League opener
Real Madrid began their 2026-27 Champions League campaign with a 2-1 victory over Inter Milan at the Santiago Bernabéu on Tuesday. According to Football Italia, Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring in the 14th minute after an Inter defensive mistake, before Federico Valverde doubled the hosts’ advantage nine minutes later.
Inter dominated possession for long periods but struggled to turn their control into goals, while Real Madrid threatened repeatedly on the counter. The visitors eventually pulled one back in the 77th minute when Carlos Augusto finished from close range following Lautaro Martínez’s assist. Inter pushed for an equaliser late on, but Madrid held firm to claim all three points.
