Refineries will work again, Tinubu reassures petroleum workers
President Bola Tinubu on Thursday assured petroleum workers that Nigeria’s moribund refineries would resume operations, though success would depend on productivity, according to Punch Newspapers.
Receiving NUPENG’s Executive President Salimon Oladiti at Aso Rock, Tinubu linked the revival to his administration’s broader economic reforms, which he said funded major road projects.
He reaffirmed that fuel subsidy removal was irreversible despite past strike threats, insisting it benefited ordinary salary earners.
Oladiti raised concerns over casualisation of upstream workers and urged similar revival efforts for NPSC depots, also calling for compliance with local government financial autonomy rulings.
