Roy Keane has urged Manchester United youngster JJ Gabriel to be patient amid his reported request to leave the club. The 15-year-old is understood to have formally asked United to cancel his registration, with several major European clubs reportedly monitoring his situation.

According to SPORTbible, Gabriel, who joined United at 11 and was named the club’s 2025/26 Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year, is regarded as one of England’s most promising young talents. Speaking on The Overlap, Keane questioned why Gabriel could not wait for his opportunity, arguing that United are currently under pressure to produce results and cannot afford to rely heavily on a teenager.

Gary Neville also criticised the handling of the situation, while Jamie Carragher warned that excessive attention could affect the youngster’s development. Michael Carrick has confirmed he is involved in discussions over Gabriel’s future and stressed the importance of protecting the teenager’s welfare.
