Scientists reveal when ‘the world will end’
Scientists have predicted that the universe could end in about 33.3 billion years, according to research published by scientists from Cornell University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and other institutions.
According to Daily Star, the study suggests the universe will continue expanding before reaching a maximum size about 69 per cent larger than its present state, after which it could gradually contract in a process known as the “Big Crunch.” Researchers based the model on the possibility that dark energy, which drives cosmic expansion, may change over time.
The prediction means the universe has roughly 20 billion years before collapse. However, scientists say Earth would likely cease to exist much earlier.
