Shettima begins two-week leave, first since 2023 inauguration
Vice President Kashim Shettima has proceeded on a two-week leave, his first since assuming office in May 2023. According to Peoples Gazette, his spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, said the leave, approved by President Bola Tinubu, began on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
Nkwocha said Shettima would use the period to study and reflect, review the administration’s programmes, and deepen his grasp of emerging policy issues ahead of continued implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda. The VP is expected to resume office at the end of the leave.
