Souness accuses Arsenal star Rice of ‘cheating’ in midfield
Former Liverpool captain Graeme Souness has launched a scathing criticism of Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice, questioning his credentials as an elite central midfielder. As reported by GOAL, Souness made the remarks after Arsenal’s 2-1 Premier League victory over Chelsea.
The pundit argued that Rice frequently drops between the centre-backs during build-up, allowing him to receive possession without pressure. While Souness praised the England international as one of the country’s best defensive midfielders, he claimed Rice does not influence matches enough from his deep position. He also suggested the 27-year-old could be better suited to playing centre-back.
