Spanish priest uses WhatsApp to help over 1,200 people find spouse

Spanish Opus Dei priest Father Fernando Cuevas has helped 1,280 single Catholics find spouses over 15 years through WhatsApp and a simple questionnaire, EWTN News reports.

Cuevas, based in Valencia, receives about 60 messages daily at his personal number, requiring applicants to be over 25 and regular churchgoers. He cross-references age, church involvement and location before matching candidates, prioritising shared spirituality.

Requests now come from Spanish-speaking America and beyond, prompting assistance from a second priest, Father Vicente Huerta. Dubbed the “Tinder priest,” Cuevas said singles increasingly seek partners who place Christ at the centre of their lives.
