Starmer to quit Parliament, sparking by-election in London stronghold

Sir Keir Starmer has announced he will step down as MP for Holborn and St Pancras, triggering a by-election in the London constituency he has held since 2015, BBC News reported.

In a statement to the Camden New Journal, he cited plans to focus on international affairs, including defence and security, plus his continued work against violence against women and girls.

The move follows his resignation as prime minister earlier this summer, when Andy Burnham succeeded him. Conservative chairman Kevin Hollinrake criticised the decision as costly for taxpayers.
