Study says politicians use AI to write speeches, laws without informing voters
A new study has found that politicians in Sweden and the UK are increasingly using AI to draft parliamentary texts without disclosing it, according to a Euronews report.
Researchers from Chalmers University of Technology and Edinburgh Napier University found AI-generated content in about 15% of UK parliamentary statements and 9.4% of Swedish motions in 2026, with zero disclosure identified.
The figures marked a sharp rise from 2022 levels. Study lead Minerva Suvanto warned that undisclosed AI use poses transparency risks, as AI-written text is often persuasive enough that errors may go unnoticed.
