Tehran threatens broader strikes on civilian and economic targets if US attack

Iran has warned that it could launch widespread attacks on American military installations and civilian infrastructure across the Persian Gulf if the United States and Israel resume military operations against Tehran.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Iranian authorities have issued warnings through public statements and private diplomatic communications, threatening to target American military bases, warships, airports, pipelines and other critical infrastructure in neighbouring Gulf countries.

The warnings are intended to discourage Washington and Israel from launching fresh attacks amid escalating regional tensions.

Despite previous military confrontations, Iran reportedly retains substantial missile and drone stockpiles, giving it the capability to carry out retaliatory strikes.

Meanwhile, the United States is taking precautionary measures to protect its personnel, including efforts to relocate military servicemembers and diplomatic staff away from potential danger zones.

American forces are also preparing for possible military operations, with aircraft and munitions being readied aboard the USS George Washington.

The developments have heightened concerns about renewed hostilities and the possibility of a broader regional conflict.
