‘We’re dying from bullets and hardship,’ Benue police officers cry out, allege four months of unpaid allowances
Police personnel deployed on special duty in Benue State have complained of four months of unpaid operational allowances while facing deadly attacks and communal violence.
According to SaharaReporters, the affected officers were drawn from the 45 Police Mobile Force and more than 11 other squadrons deployed from Abuja.
“I’m from 45 PMF on special duty here in Benue State. We came from Abuja to this state since January 28, 2026. For four months now we have not been paid operation allowances and the state government is not doing anything about it,” an officer said.
He added that three officers had recently been killed in Logo Local Government Area.
“We’re dying from bullets and hardship at the same time,” he said.
The officer said personnel in Kwande, Ukum and Logo were also affected, with some reportedly owed allowances for between three and five months.
Efforts to reach Force spokesperson CSP Anietie Iniedu for comment were unsuccessful, according to the report.
