Tennis world turns on Nick Kyrgios after cocaine revelation as former No. 1 leads backlash
Nick Kyrgios faces backlash after testing positive for cocaine and receiving a provisional suspension, according to New York Post. The Australian, who tested positive in June at a Mallorca event, previously mocked Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek over their own doping violations, once tweeting he had “never failed drug tests.” Former World No. 1 Simona Halep, whom Kyrgios also criticized after her failed test, responded pointedly on Instagram about life’s way of “revealing the difference between an accident and a choice.” Kyrgios apologized, citing years of injuries and mental strain, and faces a ban of up to four years.
