“Time to leave the main tour” — Ex-world No. 4 slams Williams sisters
Former world No. 4 Greg Rusedski has criticised Serena and Venus Williams following their first-round US Open doubles exit, suggesting their results no longer match their popularity.
According to a Tennis Temple report, Rusedski, speaking on his podcast Off Court with Greg, praised the sisters’ legacy but likened their continued play to Muhammad Ali fighting past his prime.
He suggested they follow Roger Federer’s example by shifting to exhibition matches instead of the main tour, noting they could still fill arenas despite fading competitive results.
