Tinubu endorses $3.1bn AfCFTA customs modernisation project

President Bola Tinubu has expressed support for the companies behind a $3.1 billion customs modernisation project under the African Continental Free Trade Area, describing it as transformative for the continent’s economic progress.

According to The Guardian Nigeria, the endorsement came during a courtesy visit by Alhaji Saleh Ahmadu, whose company, Bergmans Security Consultants and Supplies Limited, signed a 20-year concession agreement with the AfCFTA Secretariat. The project, implemented with AfriTrade CMP Limited, covers all 55 AfCFTA member states and aims to modernise customs and strengthen trade facilitation. Tinubu commended Ahmadu’s role in Nigeria’s Customs Service Modernisation Project.
