Atiku will boycott any election debate without Tinubu, spokesperson says

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said he will not participate in any presidential debate ahead of the 2027 election unless President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress are included.

Peoples Gazette reports that Atiku’s spokesperson, Kenneth Okonkwo, disclosed in a statement on Tuesday that Atiku would only participate in a presidential debate if President Bola Tinubu and the APC are included.

He said Atiku remained willing to engage Nigerians through interviews, town hall meetings and press conferences but would not participate in debates that pit opposition candidates against one another.

Okonkwo also challenged Tinubu to a national presidential debate ahead of the 2027 election, saying it would allow Nigerians to assess their policies.
