Tinubu makes verbal slip, calls himself governor while seeking second term as president
President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday mistakenly referred to himself as a governor during the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council in Abuja.
The incident occurred at the Presidential Villa’s Banquet Hall as Tinubu addressed party leaders ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
According to TheCable, the president made the remark while acknowledging members of the newly inaugurated council.
“Distinguished leaders of our party, all the party members, presidential campaign council, I’ve seen my friend here that I must thank. And next will be the recognition of the director general of the presidential campaign council that we bring Governor Bola Tinubu back for second time,” he said.
The apparent slip came as Tinubu intensified preparations for his second-term bid.
Tinubu chairs the campaign council, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima serving as vice-chairman and former Zamfara governor Abdulaziz Yari as director-general.
The presidential election is scheduled for January 16, 2027.
