Tinubu: Nigeria’s refineries coming back
President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the nation’s refineries will return to full operation, while criticising truck owners for allegedly pocketing the cost benefits of Compressed Natural Gas rather than passing savings to commuters, during a meeting with Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) leadership at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday.
“The refineries you mentioned are going to come back to work,” Tinubu said, adding that “ordinary flame and smoke from a refinery doesn’t mean that it’s working until it’s profitable.”
Vanguard reports that the President also defended his fuel subsidy removal policy and pledged to publish details of how savings were being utilised, while NUPENG’s President Salimon Oladiti urged him to end casualisation of oil industry workers.
