Tinubu orders urgent intervention in Benin-Agbor-Asaba gridlock

President Bola Tinubu has directed the Federal Ministry of Works to urgently intervene in the worsening gridlock on the Benin-Agbor-Asaba road, which has trapped motorists and disrupted interstate movement for days.

According to Vanguard News, Works Minister David Umahi said he would personally lead the intervention and had begun implementation, arriving in Benin on Tuesday with National Assembly Works Committee members.

The gridlock, worsened by failed road sections, prompted a motorists’ protest on August 20. Umahi apologised to affected commuters and pledged permanent solutions. He also directed officials to the Ifaki-Kabba-Ado Ekiti axis over a similar road crisis.
