Tinubu to Security Chiefs: Dismantle terrorist camps, rescue kidnap victims
President Bola Tinubu has ordered security chiefs to dismantle terrorist and bandit camps nationwide and rescue Nigerians held captive by criminal groups.
According to PM News, Defence Minister Christopher Musa disclosed the directive on Thursday after a security meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
“The directive from the President is: all of us must go all out to fish out and rescue all those that have been abducted, kidnapped, wherever they are,” Musa said.
He added that Tinubu demanded a safe environment for the 2027 general elections and instructed security agencies to remain neutral.
“We must do everything possible to ensure that the country is safe and secure for the citizens to go out and vote,” he said.
Musa assured political parties that security personnel would not intimidate voters or candidates.
He said the government had strengthened recruitment, training and equipment procurement to improve security operations.
The minister added that newly acquired aircraft and helicopters would soon be commissioned to strengthen military operations nationwide.
