Tinubu urges US court to toss out FBI records suit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked a US court to reject a bid seeking additional FBI and DEA records concerning him, dismissing claims of a secret prosecution or government cover-up as unsubstantiated, according to The Nation.

In a filing responding to activist Aaron Greenspan’s motion for summary judgment, Tinubu’s attorneys argued the FOIA action aimed to mine private records for use in Nigerian politics rather than scrutinize US agencies. Tinubu maintained he retains privacy rights over decades-old records from 1993, when he was a private individual, and urged the court to uphold the FBI and DEA’s existing redactions.
