Tottenham VAR controversy as Neco Williams claims goal should have stood

Nottingham Forest defender Neco Williams has criticised the VAR decision that ruled out his goal during Saturday’s goalless Premier League draw with Tottenham Hotspur. Williams appeared to score from close range after Antonin Kinsky parried Morgan Gibbs-White’s effort, but VAR intervened after determining that the Wales international had handled the ball immediately before finishing.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Williams insisted the contact was not clear and obvious, arguing that the goal should have stood. Forest head coach Oliver Glasner also questioned the decision, claiming VAR had required several replays before concluding that Williams had handled the ball. According to Football London, Glasner also felt Forest should have received a penalty in another incident involving Mohammed Kudus. Tottenham ultimately secured their first point of the season.
