Troops free abducted victim, seize AK-47 rifle in Kogi
Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 2 Division have rescued a 28-year-old kidnap victim and recovered an AK-47 rifle during an operation in Kogi State.
According to Peoples Gazette, troops operating from Patrol Base Obajana encountered the victim after he escaped from kidnappers who had held him for about five weeks following his abduction from the Abaji area of the Federal Capital Territory.
Acting on information he provided, troops advanced to the kidnappers’ location, forcing the suspects to flee.
The Army said the recovered rifle was abandoned by the fleeing kidnappers, while operations continue to track them and dismantle their network.
