Trump administration moves to reopen human trafficking case against Abrego Garcia

Share:

According to a report by People’s Gazette, the Trump administration has asked the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit to reinstate the human trafficking indictment against Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran immigrant previously deported in error.

The government argued the Tennessee district court wrongly ruled the charges were retaliatory, insisting prosecutors acted on strong evidence, not vindictive motives.

Garcia was earlier deported despite a “withholding of removal” order, later returned following a judge’s rebuke, then indicted for human smuggling before Judge Waverly Crenshaw dismissed the case in May, citing political prosecution.
