Trump calls off weekend rallies, plans to join midterm campaign events by phone
US President Donald Trump has cancelled scheduled campaign rallies in Kansas and Iowa, opting to address supporters by telephone ahead of Tuesday’s midterm elections.
According to MSN, Trump announced the decision on Thursday after four weeks of campaigning across the United States to boost Republican candidates.
The cancelled rallies were scheduled for Saturday in Salina, Kansas, and Sunday in Dubuque, Iowa.
Trump said he did not “feel like I have to go to Kansas,” expressing confidence in Republican Senator Roger Marshall’s re-election prospects.
“He is doing very well,” Trump said. “We are going to have a strong Tuesday night.”
The president has held 25 rallies across 19 states since October 1.
Meanwhile, MAGA Inc., a Trump-aligned campaign group, announced plans for telephone rallies in at least 19 states before Election Day.
Despite the cancellations, Trump insisted he remained healthy, telling reporters, “I feel perfect.”
