Trump Jr.’s wedding costs partly covered by Russian oligarch
Donald Trump Jr.’s May wedding to Bettina Anderson was partially funded by Russian oligarch Umar Kremlev, according to a report by The Washington Times, citing a ProPublica investigation.
Kremlev, an ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, reportedly bankrolled hundreds of thousands of dollars in expenses, including renting a private island, a fireworks show, and event planning. Mrs. Trump said the couple married “privately” and that Kremlev generously hosted celebrations afterward as “a wedding gift,” dismissing suggestions of political motive.
Kremlev’s office said he has “never discussed political matters” with the Trumps and did not attend the ceremony. Forbes estimates Trump Jr.’s net worth at roughly $300 million, a sum that could have covered the wedding costs itself.
