Trump slams Nobel committee in Truth Social repost, says it ‘shamed itself beyond repair’ over peace prize snub
United States President Donald Trump has shared a social media post accusing the Norwegian Nobel Committee of disgracing the Nobel Peace Prize after overlooking him for the 2026 award.
According to Forbes, Trump reposted the criticism on Truth Social on Friday, hours after South African human rights lawyer Navi Pillay emerged as the winner.
The post declared that the “Nobel Committee shamed itself beyond repair and demeaned the once great Nobel Peace Prize by giving it to the UN’s Navi Pillay.”
It also accused Pillay of hostility towards America and Israel over her involvement in a United Nations investigation into alleged genocide in Gaza.
Trump has repeatedly argued that his diplomatic interventions deserve international recognition.
Meanwhile, Pillay jokingly referenced Trump’s ambitions during celebrations in Germany.
“If you clap a little bit more, I may share this prize with Trump,” she said.
The Nobel Committee recognised Pillay’s contributions to international justice and accountability for serious crimes.a
