UCH breaks silence on gospel singer Toluwanisings’ death
The University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, has denied having any record of late gospel singer Olayemi Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, being brought to its facility before his death.
According to Naija News, the hospital’s clarification followed allegations that several hospitals in Ibadan refused to provide emergency treatment after the singer collapsed.
His personal assistant, Babadunni Olayemi, claimed that attempts to secure treatment at about eight hospitals were unsuccessful.
The allegations sparked public outrage, with some Nigerians linking the incident to industrial action by resident doctors.
However, UCH spokesperson Funmilayo Enitan said the hospital had resumed operations following the suspension of its local strike.
“The hospital is running its services. The strike was a local one within the hospital; it was not a national strike. I was not aware that he was brought to UCH. I was not officially informed that he was brought to UCH. There was no record of it with the management.”
The hospital maintained that its records contained no documentation of the singer’s arrival.
