UK police deny investigating Meghan Markle’s father over child sex abuse allegations, launch inquiry into 2018 letter
London’s Metropolitan Police has launched internal inquiries into a 2018 letter containing disturbing allegations against Thomas Markle Sr, father of Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex.
According to the Daily Mail, police are examining whether officers from the Royalty and Specialist Protection Command shared the letter with Meghan following her marriage to Prince Harry.
Meghan said the letter contained “troubling and disturbing allegations” against her father and that she received assurances they were being investigated.
The development follows accusations by her half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr, that their father possessed child sexual abuse material.
Thomas Sr, 82, strongly denied the allegations, describing them as “sick lies.”
Philippine authorities have launched an investigation into the claims, while the FBI is reportedly considering involvement.
However, the Metropolitan Police clarified that it has neither investigated nor is currently investigating Thomas Sr.
The allegations have renewed attention on Meghan’s estrangement from her father since 2018.
